The Hateful Eight (2016) UK Film Response

The Hateful Eight (2016)

Rating: 8.9/10

The Hateful Eight was a film that I was very surprised by, this film was absolutely nothing like I thought it would be. While looking at the trailer to this film, I believed that it would honestly be something I don't particularly enjoy when comparing to other genres. However I thought I'd give this film a try and was very happy that I did watch this. This film was definitely a must watch. Of course when knowing this was Quentin Tarantino film, it was clear to expect great work. The film was very indulging and I could not take my eyes of the big screen in the cinema. This film showed lots of famous faces that surprisingly included Channing Tatum. However the character that stood out in my opinion was Walton Goggins that played as Sheriff Chris Mannix. The reason why this character stood out so much was because the acting was incredible, the beginning showed how the sheriff was not much of a personality and made me believe he wasn't part of story plot. However during the film this character began to have more of a story and this became much more inviting. Walton Goggins definitly showed great acting. Actors that also stood out were Samuel L. Jackson playing Major Marquis Warren when showing what it was like for all races and Tim Roth who played Oswaldo Mobray. This character showed how you could never trust even those that seem nice when first meeting. The character was very exciting and well played, therefore making every scene worthy. An thing that should also be mentioned is the character Daisy Domergue, that was played by Jennifer Jason Leigh. The reason why this is mentioned is because for once in a long time there was an actress that was not used for looks but personality. This character was seen as a threat and untrustworthy. Due to this it made us focus on more of the character instead of romance and this is highly credited. The only thing that made a huge disappoint for myself when watching the film was when Channing Tatum entered and completely ruined the story's feeling. Channing Tatum played the character of Jody and was seen as the older brother to Daisy Domergue and completely ruined any intense feeling. The acting was terrible and it didn't seem realistic that he would be there in this era of when the film was set. Lastly, I didn't really like that the film came in chapters, this is also made the film seem less realistic, but felt like reading a book and the film was my imagination.

This film is highly recommended to watch!

As always,

Hit That Film!
